Old And Wise

I found myself humming this tune just a few minutes ago, I don’t even know where it came from, just out of the blue I heard this melody in my head. I did a quick search on the Internet, and I found out that the song is entitled “Old And Wise” by Alan Parsons Project. I gotta say, this song is giving me the chills right now! It’s so nostalgic sounding, like it transports you back to the past, a kind of eerie, haunting feeling. Even the lyrics say so. Glad I found this!

As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows approaching me
And to those I left behind
I wanted you to know
You’ve always shared my deepest thoughts
You follow where I go

And oh when I’m old and wise
Bitter words mean little to me
Autumn winds will blow right through me
And someday in the mist of time
When they asked me if I knew you
I’d smile and say you were a friend of mine
And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes
Oh when I’m old and wise

As far as my eyes can see
There are shadows surrounding me
And to those I leave behind
I want you all to know
You’ve always shared my darkest hours
I’ll miss you when I go

Nostalgic Smoke

My retired veteran grandfather loves cigars. You know what he loves best? Those dominican cigars that he has gotten used to over the years. I remember when I was a kid, I would spend days in my grandparents’ house and play there and just hang out. And until now, I can still kinda smell the lingering aroma of my grandpa’s smoking. I sort of associated it with that place already. So sometimes, on the rare occasions when I would visit, I get hit by a sense of nostalgia every time he smokes again. Oh well, I guess sometimes our childhood memories stick no matter what we do.
