Gravity - Sara Bareilles

angel on Jul-27-2009

This is one song that I’ve just recently discovered (thanks to a friend of mine for introducing it to me). And I gotta say this… every time I listen to this song, seems like I’m falling in love with it more and more. It’s sweet and mellow, and lyrics aside, it really has a tune that lingers… and the melody is so raw and simple, but totally piercing. Gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Sara wrote it when she had her first real heartbreak so it’s essentially a sad song. Superb composing, in my opinion. And Sara’s voice and piano skills are awesome. Anyway, for those who haven’t heard it, check it out…

Something always brings me back to you.
It never takes too long.
No matter what I say or do,
I’ll still feel you here ’til the moment I’m gone.

You hold me without touch.
You keep me without chains.
I never wanted anything so much than to
Drown in your love and not feel your rain.

Set me free, leave me be.
I don’t want to fall another moment into your gravity.
Here I am and I stand so tall, just the way I’m supposed to be.
But you’re on to me and all over me.

You loved me ’cause I’m fragile.
When I thought that I was strong.
But you touch me for a little while
And all my fragile strength is gone.

I live here on my knees as I try to make you see,
That you’re everything I think I need here on the ground.
But you’re neither friend nor foe though I can’t seem to let you go.
The one thing that I still know is that you’re keeping me down.

BackSplash

angel on Jul-26-2009

I was browsing a magazine about interior design today and I came across the term “backsplash”. I’ve heard this word before but I never really bothered to look up its meaning until now. As it turns out, it’s sort of like wall tiles vertically rising above a countertop or other work surface to decorate the wall or protect it from spills and splashes. There are different kinds too, there’s the stainless steel backsplash, and other kind of materials such as tiles, Corian, granite, or Formica. It’s useful to know terms such as this, at least I’m not gonna appear completely ignorant in case someone mentions the word to me in the future. Reading and looking up new words really does increase the vocabulary, I should do it more often. Hehe.

Horse Talk

angel on Jul-22-2009

I really admire horses. In my whole life, I probably have only seen a few of them, but I really like the way their coats shine, the way they carry themselves, like regal animals of some sort… the way their tails would swoosh and the way they would stomp their hooves and hold their heads… and their big doleful eyes too. I’ve always wanted to ride one, but I never got the chance unfortunately. I envy those who have ranches that have horses. I would imagine raising horses is a tough job, I mean, think of all the maintenance you have to do. You have to feed them hay, give them horse supplements, bathe and scrub them, and who knows what else. But I think it’s pretty cool to live in a ranch with horses. I sure would love to have some firsthand experience with these creatures someday.

Cross Country Moving

angel on Jul-15-2009

Moving from one country to another may be exciting, because you’ll be adjusting to a new place and all… but it can also be hard, especially if it’s your first time moving and you’re leaving for good. Cross country moving can be easier if you have the right resources and people to help make the move smoother. So get online and search for the right company that can help you out. You’ll be glad you did.

Karaoke Fun

angel on Jul-12-2009

I’ve always wanted to have one of those karaoke type DVD players that have thousands of songs to choose from. My dad bought one this weekend and I was pretty excited to try it out. But the player won’t work! We asked the person who sold it to us and he told us there was a cord that was needed to make it work. There was this store that sells wholesale electronics near our home, but we couldn’t find it there. So we went to the city. Luckily, we found it in another electronic store. We actually enjoyed the weekend singing our hearts out. It was a good buy actually. For those who love karaokes, you should definitely get one. :)

My New Place

angel on Jul-3-2009

I’m moving to a new apartment in 2 weeks. It’s a good thing coz I’m getting pretty tired of my old place. The new apartment is nothing fancy, it doesn’t have porcelain tiles or anything like that, but at least it’s new. And I’m going to have this cute little terrace too, so it’s good. I was a little hesitant about the move in the beginning, but I decided it’s time to make some changes. I’m actually getting pretty excited now. Can’t wait.
