Just A Little Makeover
The day started out just like any other ordinary day. I woke up, went through my daily routine, and got ready to go do some errands. But after a while, I changed my mind about my plans and instead, I asked my cousin to go malling with me. I was definitely in the mood to go window-shopping in those brightly lit shops with cool air-conditioning.
So off we went. At around ten, there weren’t really that many people yet inside the mall so we just strolled around. Well actually, the main reason why I wanted to go to the mall in the first place was that so I could get a haircut. So we went to a salon.
See, I have always worn my hair long and straight, you know, just getting a trim or two occasionally. So naturally, I just expected the usual 2-inch cut of my hair. But then my cousin started ranting about me getting a “real” haircut and began showing me these really stylish hairdos in the magazine. She flipped through a few pages before finally deciding on a cut that she said is so “in” these days and would look good on me.
I actually liked the style she chose but I still felt anxious of how it might turn out that I was having second thoughts about the whole restyling thing. But hey, how bad can it get? And besides, I was getting pretty tired of my look so heck, why not give it try? I gave the barber a curt nod to signal ok.
After a few minutes of cutting hair (while I gritted my teeth, bit my lip, and hoped for the best), I examined myself in the mirror. Guess what? I actually liked what I saw! It was a fairly simple cut but it was cute, and I liked it.
When we stepped out of the salon, I felt different. It was weird looking at myself in the mirror for a while. It took me quite some time to get used to my new hairstyle, but I did feel good. And my friends liked my new look too! I felt more confident about myself. Essentially, it made me realize that trying something new and different is actually kind of exciting…
When was the last time you tried something new?

Hi Angel, I enjoy reading your posts. Didn’t you take a picture before and after? I know the feeling sitting in the hairdressers chair and laying your fate in his/her hands … Makes me kind of nervous too!
