Moments Of Love

angel on Jun-13-2007

couple1.jpgI want you to know, I’m so happy to have you in my life. You taught me the real meaning of love. There have been times when it was hard… but always, somehow I made it. I made it through… ’cause every moment that I’ve spent hurting, there was a moment that I spent, just LOVING YOU.

Problems Are Like Wounds

angel on Jun-12-2007

Everybody thinks his or her problem is big and unique in this world. Many of us keep on thinking, worrying, and hurting ourselves when some problem arises in our life because we keep talking to ourselves and try to simply escape away from the pain.

To illustrate the point here is a little story:

There was once an angel who took on a project for solving problems - of the human kind. It was a very intelligent angel and wanted to score 100 percent, so it invited all the people who were thinking a lot about their problems and gave them a chit of paper. The angel instructed the people to write their problems down on this chit but to not write down their names.

Everybody wrote their problems in detail and folded the chit in half. Then they were told to put their paper in a common box placed before the angel.

“Now,” the angel said, “Those who want to exchange their problems, please come forward. Pick a chit and your problems will be exchanged with the one on their chosen chit.”

There were all sorts of people gathered there: poor, rich, smart, handicapped. Every kind of person you can imagine. They all started picking and reading the other person’s problem. To the angel’s and everyone’s surprise, their remarks and reactions were the same.

“Let me remain with my existing problem, I can manage it. Oh God, I didn’t know this type of problem was also here in the world,” they exclaimed. They all now knew the extremity of the problems faced by others.

The summary is simple. Just don’t worry about the problems. Problems are like wounds. They have their time and then they disappear. The more we think about them, the longer they remain. So, leave your worries behind and live happier forever.

Real Love

angel on Jun-10-2007

Real Love is caring about the happiness of another person without any thought for what we might get for ourselves. Real Love is unaffected by the mistakes and flaws of the people we love. When they give us nothing in return — including gratitude — or even when they’re thoughtless and inconsiderate, we’re not disappointed, hurt, or angry, because our concern is for their happiness. Real Love is unconditional.

It’s Real Love when someone cares about our happiness without any concern whatever for themselves. It’s Real Love when people are not disappointed or angry when we make our foolish mistakes, even when we inconvenience them personally. Sadly, very few of us have ever seen love like that.

Take Me Out Of The Dark

angel on Jun-9-2007

Just what is it in me?
Sometimes I just don’t know
What keeps me in Your love,
Why you never let me go
And though you’re in me now,
I fall and hurt you still
My Lord, please show me how
To know just how you feel

You have forgiven me
Too many times it seems
I feel I’m not what you might call
A worthy Christian after all
And though I love You so
Temptation finds its way to me

Teach me to trust in You
With all my heart
To lean not on my own understanding
I just forget
You won’t give me what I can’t bear
Take me out of the dark, my Lord
I don’t wanna be there

You’ve never left my side
You gave Your hand to me to hold
Oh Jesus, I’m no longer in the cold
And yet, I leave You there
When I feel satisfied
I’d like to thank You everyday
Not only when I feel that way

I’ve never known a Man
Who’d give His life for sinners like me
And yet, because He loves us so
He’s promised us eternity
And we can have that promise and be His
If we have faith and just believe…

Why Women Lie

angel on Jun-9-2007

One day, when a seamstress was sewing while sitting close to a river, her thimble fell into the river. When she cried out, the Lord appeared and asked, “My dear child, why are you crying?”

The seamstress replied that her thimble had fallen into the water and that she needed it to help her husband in making a living for their family.

The Lord dipped His hand into the water and pulled up a golden thimble set with pearls. “Is this your thimble?” the Lord asked The seamstress replied, “No.”

The Lord again dipped into the river. He held out a silver thimble ringed with sapphires. “Is this your thimble?” the Lord asked. Again, the seamstress replied, “No.”

The Lord reached down again and came up with a leather thimble. “Is this your thimble?” the Lord asked. The seamstress replied, “Yes.”

The Lord was pleased with the woman’s honesty and gave her all three thimbles to keep, and the seamstress went home happy.

Some years later, the seamstress was walking with her husband along the riverbank, and her husband fell into the river and disappeared under the water. When she cried out, the Lord again appeared and asked her, “Why are you crying?”

“Oh Lord, my husband has fallen into the river!” The Lord went down into the water and came up with George Clooney. “Is this your husband?” the Lord asked. “Yes,” cried the seamstress.

The Lord was furious. “You lied! That is an untruth!” The seamstress replied, “Oh, forgive me, my Lord It is a misunderstanding. You see, if I had said ‘no’ to George Clooney, you would have come up with Brad Pitt. Then if I said ‘no’ to him, you would have come up with my husband. Had I then said ‘yes,’ you would have given me all three. Lord, I’m not in the best of health and would not be able to take care of all three husbands, so THAT’S why I said ‘yes’ to George Clooney.

And so the Lord let her keep him.

The moral of this story is: Whenever a woman lies, it’s for a good and honorable reason, and in the best interest of others.

That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it.

Signed,
All Us Women

God Still Answers

angel on Jun-7-2007

1god-watching.gifA young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord’s voice. The young man couldn’t help but wonder, “Does God still speak to people?”

After service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways. It was about ten o’clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, ” God. If you still speak to people speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.”

As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk. He shook his head and said out loud, “God is that you?” He didn’t get a reply and started on toward home. But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk. The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn’t recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli. “Okay God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk.” It didn’t seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.

As he passed Seventh Street , he again felt the urge, “Turn down that street.” This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection. Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street. At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh. Half jokingly, he said out loud, “Okay, God, I will”.

He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi commercial area of town. It wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst of neighborhoods either. The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed.

Again, he sensed something, “Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street.” The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat. “Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid.” Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk.

Finally, he opened the door, “Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something but if they don’t answer right away, I am out of here.”

He walked across the street and rang the bell. He could hear some noise inside. A man’s voice yelled out, “Who is it? What do you want?” Then the door opened before the young man could get away. The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn’t seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. “What is it?”

milkcarton.gifThe young man thrust out the gallon of milk, “Here, I brought this to you.” The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway. Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down his face. The man began speaking and half crying, “We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn’t have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk.” His wife in the kitchen yelled out, “I asked Him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?”

The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put it in the man’s hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face. He knew that God still answers prayers.

This is so true. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that God asks us to do that cause us, if we are obedient to what He’s asking, to be able to hear. His voice more clear than ever. Please listen, and obey! It will bless you (and the world). Phil 4:13

Sailing

angel on Jun-6-2007

sailing-trips-on-kootenay-lake-near-nelson-bc-canada.jpg

It’s not far down to paradise
At least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It’s not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
Soon I will be free

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I’m sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won’t you believe me

It’s not far back to sanity
At least it’s not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me
